KEYNOTE SPEAKER (Thursday)
Avril Henry (Strategic Revelations)
Leading & Attracting, Retaining & Motivating Gen X and Gen Y
This session looks at what the current and future members of the Australian Workforce want from leaders. What they want is different to what the current leadership models and styles have to offer. This session explores the challenges this presents.

HALF DAY SEMINARS (Wednesday)
MORNING SESSIONS

Bradley Bruhahn (Sandpiper Data Systems, Inc. USA)
Using a Storage Resource Manager to Manage Storage and Lower Total Cost of Ownership: A User Experience
IT storage business needs are different from company to company. This session will show participants how to easily customize various Storage Resource Manager (SRM) functions to manage and control their storage infrastructures, with error correction, event automation and predictive management from a single viewpoint to provide the required levels of service each line of business requires. It will detail how an SRM provides the control needed for critical storage components that ultimately affect the corporate bottom line. Participants will get a feel for the options and methodologies they now have to take complete control of their storage environment. Length: Half-day session

Peter Enrico (Enterprise Performance Strategies, Inc. USA)
WebSphere on z/OS - Performance Subjects
This half-day seminar, given by Peter Enrico, will present on a variety of performance subjects relating to WebSphere on z/OS.

During the first half of this session, Peter will provide brief introduction to WebSphere for z/OS V5. He will then touch on some miscellaneous performance subjects relating to WebSphere on z/OS. Included will be a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) subject, a WebSphere and WLM subject, and a general WebSphere on z/OS subject.

During the second half of this session, Peter will provide an introduction to monitoring J2EE applications. The session will begin with a high level overview of what a J2EE application looks like, and an overview of the components that make up typical transaction response time. Peter will then provide an introduction to available J2EE application measurements, and overview of some common tools that are used to collect and report these measurements, and an approach you can use to use to determine if your J2EE applications are achieving optimal performance.

AFTERNOON SESSIONS

Ivan Gelb (Gelb Information Sysytems Corp, USA)
RMF Reports, Tips and Tricks
The Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) of z/OS - S/390 evolved into a comprehensive collector that supports performance management and capacity planning activities. This workshop includes presentation of what data is available, what should be collected, how should it be collected for maximum effectiveness, and just what can we do with the RMF records. Monitor I, II, and III will all be covered. Samples of the most important and useful reports will be presented. Many examples of performance management and capacity planning case studies will also be reviewed. Session attendees are encouraged to bring their own reports in hard or soft copy, or send them to the author before the workshop for analysis and potential inclusion in the class. The emphasis will be on cost effective tools and techniques that can help us manage the wealth of information collected by RMF.
